Planning department reports steady permit activity, two rezones and upcoming comprehensive-plan presentation

Lebanon planning staff told the Board of Works on March 24 that permit and inspection activity remains steady and that two rezone petitions have been filed for neighboring parcels on State Road 32.
Planning speaker Von Trager reported the department completed 43 building inspections and issued 47 permits in the last two weeks, including three new single-family permits. "We're still seeing some pretty regular and good activity there on the single-family side," Von Trager said.
The department has received two rezone requests for adjacent properties on State Road 32 that are currently zoned light industrial; both property owners seek rezoning to general business to enable commercial development in front of a shell building. Von Trager said the rezone applications will appear before the Planning Commission in April.
Von Trager also said staff will present the city's comprehensive-plan update to the Planning Commission at the April meeting; the update reflects changes since the last plan five years ago and will move next to the City Council for consideration. On code enforcement, staff reported ramping activity for the spring: teams recorded 79 investigative activities and opened 37 new cases, primarily parking and sign complaints.
No formal board action was taken on the planning items during the meeting.
