The Laramie Planning Commission voted 7-0 to appoint Tom Matamore as chair effective April 14 for the customary two-year term.
Commissioners nominated Matamore and supporters cited his knowledge of Robert's Rules, dependability and experience working with staff and the public. "Tom has always been very courteous with staff and with the public and very thoughtful... he knows Robert's rules of order and is very dependable," one commissioner said during the nomination discussion.
A motion to appoint Matamore carried on a roll-call vote: Pacino — aye; Evans — aye; Matamore — aye; O'Toole — aye; Schneider — aye; Moody — aye; [other commissioner names repeated as present] — resulting in seven yeses and zero nos. The chair congratulated Matamore and offered to help with transition logistics.
Why it matters: The chair leads Planning Commission meetings and is the public face of the commission for agenda management; commissioners noted the role is a two-year position and that the body will revisit chair selection at the next July organizational meeting.
