Rescue squad seeks county right-of-way to replace aging sewer and water line near airport

Johnson estimated about 700 feet of sewer line and roughly 750 feet of water line would be installed.
Johnson said the squad will bear the expense for materials and that the work will disturb only a small portion of the chip-sealed road surface; he also asked the county to consider cold-patching the road once the trenching is complete.
County response and conditions: county staff said 811 locators had been used and no active utilities were identified; the county’s representative said the work appears to lie on county property except for the existing line, which sits on airport property. The commission chair said the county needs a right-of-way document before work begins and that the county attorney must prepare the easement paperwork. “We probably do. We're gonna need a document from our attorney before you can start. We'll have to have a right of way document,” a commissioner said.
Next steps: Johnson said crews and pipe were scheduled for Wednesday morning and that he would coordinate with the county and pass coordinates to legal staff. Commissioners said staff will prepare an easement/right-of-way document for consideration and that the matter will return to the commission for formal authorization.
