Developer celebrates Florence Place affordable housing project; signals future phases

Harlan said Florence Place, an 88‑unit affordable housing development in the southwest quadrant of Martin Luther King Boulevard and First Street North, completed construction and began lease‑up in April 2024; the property reached full occupancy by June 2024 and has remained 100% occupied, he said. Harlan thanked city staff and the business community for support during development and noted minimal operational issues.
Harlan also said Blue Sky Communities and Trinity Ministries are working on a two‑phase affordable housing proposal on a roughly 12‑acre site near Recker Highway and 20 First Street that would include a senior phase and a family workforce housing phase; he said the developers will return to the city for support as those proposals move forward.
