At the start of the meeting staff provided two brief department updates relevant to board members and interested property owners.
Historic Preservation staff reminded members that nominations for the 2025 Heritage Preservation Awards are due March 31; nominations will be presented to the board when the awards packet is prepared. "April 8 we will come before you with the nominations for our 2025 Heritage Preservation Awards," staff said, asking board members to submit addresses or projects for consideration.
Staff also previewed the Phase 1 update to the City's land development code, which includes refinement of design standards and the downtown and East Side historic-district ordinance. Director Heather Lamboy and planning staff said the Phase 1 package is nearly complete and the public hearing process (including this board, the Planning Commission and City Council) will begin in April–May. Lamboy directed interested residents and potential community partners to santafeforward.org for details and participation opportunities.
Board members asked staff to circulate nomination lists and to confirm when the revised ordinance and design standards will be on the board’s agenda for review.
