Councilor Navin: First Point Power contract saved Marlborough residential customers roughly $404,000 in Q4 2024

Councilor Navin reported to the Marlborough City Council on March 20 that the city’s municipal aggregation contract with First Point Power produced lower rates and measurable savings for participating residential customers.
“Residential electricity users participating in our municipal aggregation program have saved over $404,000 in the fourth quarter of 2024,” Councilor Navin said. He told the council the First Point Power contract, which began in February 2024 and runs through November 2025, offers a rate “just over 14¢ per kilowatt hour,” which Navin contrasted with National Grid’s basic service summer rate of “just over 16¢ per kilowatt hour.” Navin said the contract provides “100% renewable energy.”
Navin also reported larger cumulative savings: the First Point contract saved Marlborough residential electricity users participating in the program more than $2,600,000 in calendar year 2024, and the municipal aggregation program as a whole has saved approximately $40,000,000 since the program’s inception in February 2007.
The council voted to accept and place the communication on file. The item was recorded as filed by a 10–0 vote.
