Perrysburg committee forwards wastewater-plant surplus-equipment declaration to city council

Perrysburg Public Utilities staff asked the Public Utilities Committee on Feb. 12, 2025, to declare four pieces of wastewater-treatment equipment — one chopper pump, two motors and one blower — surplus so they can be sold “as is.” The committee moved the item forward to city council for final action.

The request described the chopper pump as part of circulation for the treatment plant’s digester and said each piece is valued at at least $1,000. Staff asked the committee to declare an emergency so a sale could proceed under the supplier timetable.

Public Utilities staff said departments will present an annual, comprehensive list of equipment slated for surplus at the start of each year to give council an overview of disposals. Committee members asked no substantive follow-up questions and raised no objections to forwarding the declaration.

"They are gonna be sold as is. And, we are asking to declare an emergency to do so," Public Utilities staff said during the presentation. When asked what type of pump was being declared surplus, staff replied, "This is a chopper pump."

The committee did not vote to sell the equipment; it referred the surplus declaration to the city council, which will consider the emergency declaration and any sale terms.
