The Perrysburg Police Department presented plans to replace four patrol vehicles using state pricing available through Montrose Ford and to upfit the new vehicles using a local vendor.
The department said the 2025 plan replaces three Chevrolet Tahoes with 2025 Ford Police Interceptors and repurposes a seized 2023 Chevrolet Silverado to replace an older Ford F‑250. A fourth vehicle will be an unmarked "flat top" command vehicle to replace a 2011 Ford Taurus that has mechanical problems. Chief (title given in meeting transcript) said the department is returning to all‑gas engines (EcoBoost and V6) after reliability issues with hybrid vehicles.
For vehicle upfitting — including radios, lights and custody cages — the department obtained two quotes. PNR Communications' quote was lower, and the department recommended using PNR. The quoted cost to upfit the four marked vehicles and one flat‑top command vehicle is $75,098.51. The department said the vehicles and upfitting were budgeted in this year’s capital plan and that total spending would remain within the $300,000 allocated for vehicles and outfitting.
Chief discussed maintenance and warranty considerations when explaining the shift back to gas engines: "We just had to replace the batteries in the one car. Luckily, it was under warranty, but you could be looking at several thousand dollars in repairs," he said, referring to hybrid battery repairs.
No formal vote or ordinance was recorded by the committee at this meeting; the department reported the quotes and budget position and requested the committee note the purchase plans for council consideration.
