Committee hears plans for pedestrian hybrid beacon and multiuse path at Fort Meigs crossing

Brian, a staff member, told the committee he will apply to ODOT’s state safety program for funds to install a pedestrian hybrid beacon at the Fort Meigs Road crossing by Rotary Park (near the tennis courts). He said the same application would include removing an existing 5-foot sidewalk between the driveway near Rivercrest Park and Echo Junction and replacing it with a multiuse path to match trail sections to the north and south.
Brian said the project would include a culvert installation in the ditch and will tie into future Rotary Park improvements once the Rotary raises its funds. He told the committee he has not yet finalized the dollar estimate and will provide an update when the design estimate is complete.
Committee members asked for updates on coordination with park fundraising and expressed interest in timely design so the city’s work would align with the Rotary’s schedule. Brian said he was seeking funds to line up timing with Rotary Park improvements and to have design ready when park funds are available.
No formal vote was recorded on the application; staff will complete a cost estimate and pursue the ODOT state safety program application.
