Council approves minutes, tables proposed sexting ordinance and votes to go into closed session

At its Feb. 4 meeting the City of Oconomowoc Common Council took three recorded formal votes.
The council approved minutes from the Jan. 21, 2025 meeting by voice vote.
On Ordinance 25-01086, a proposed addition to Chapter 9 (Public Peace and Good Order) to prohibit sexting by minors, the council voted to table the matter for further due diligence. The motion to table was seconded by Alderman Spiegelberg. The roll call on the table motion recorded the following affirmative votes: Alderman Altman Cloth (Aye); Alderman Ellis (Aye); Alderman Spiegelberg (Aye); Alderman Mulder (Aye); Alderman Shellpepper (Aye); Alderman Maroney (Aye); Alderman Douglas (Aye); Alderman Rosack (Aye). The motion passed and the ordinance will be brought back at a future date; no date was set.
The council then voted to move into closed session under Wisconsin Statute §19.85 to confer with legal counsel regarding litigation involving the city and neighboring jurisdictions and an intergovernmental agreement. The roll call on the closed-session motion recorded all ayes: Alderman Altman Cloth (Aye); Alderman Ellis (Aye); Alderman Spiegelberg (Aye); Alderman Mulder (Aye); Alderman Shellpepper (Aye); Alderman Maroney (Aye); Alderman Douglas (Aye); Alderman Rosack (Aye).
