Board approves $67,000 musical-instrument purchases after RFP; vendors recommended

The district presented the results of an RFP for musical instruments. The presenter said eight responses were received and two vendors are being recommended to supply instruments and repairs. "We are coming forward with 2 vendor recommendations," the presenter said.
Assistant board members and the presenter described the purchase as overdue and intended to ensure students who want to play instruments have access to usable equipment. One board member called the funding "long overdue" and said the purchase would broaden access for students.
The motion to approve the recommended vendors and the instrument purchases (about $67,000) was moved and seconded in committee (motion record shows moved by McInerna, seconded by Camille Potter) and carried by voice vote: "All in favor signify by saying aye. Aye. Opposed? The ayes have it." The purchase will be funded from allocations approved during the budget process and is meant to support district instrument inventory and repair needs; staff said an inventory and a multi-year plan will be developed as part of curriculum and program planning.
