Muskego City Library Board approves emergency sprinkler repairs using trust and system funds

The Muskego City Library Board on Feb. 28 approved using library discretionary funds and a reallocation of capital funds to pay for emergency sprinkler repairs estimated at $86,680.

Britney, the library director, told the board the recommended funding split was $30,000 from the library trust fund and $40,000 from the Federated system fund, with the remainder to come from a reallocation of previously approved parking-lot capital funds. “The total cost, after we realized that we could take the taxes off, is $86,680,” Britney said during the board discussion.

The board heard details about the funding sources and constraints. Britney said the trust fund and system fund are discretionary library accounts; she reviewed their histories and any donor restrictions and reported that using $30,000 and $40,000 would leave a small balance in each account.
