The Salem School Board completed its annual reorganization at the March 20 meeting, electing officers and approving administrative appointments.
On separate roll-call votes the board elected Mrs. Berry as chair, Bernard (Benon) Campbell as vice chair and Kelly Moss as board secretary; each election was approved unanimously by the five-member board. Following the officer elections, the board approved the administration’s recommendation to appoint the law firm Sol Leslie Kidder Sayward & Lowman as school district counsel by roll-call vote (5–0). The board then approved Lucille Ramsey as the district recording secretary by roll-call vote (5–0).
Board members and the superintendent exchanged brief remarks of thanks and transition acknowledgments after the votes. A ceremonial presentation of the outgoing chairman's gavel and expressions of appreciation to departing members were included in the meeting record. These reorganizational actions were taken as formal motions and recorded by roll call.
