The MOU change most discussed adds language that assigns long-term responsibility for the pod to the library after Jobpod funds and installs it. “In short, they added some language about that we’re responsible for the pod,” Michelle said. Board members clarified that Jobpod will fund the purchase and installation and that the library will manage the item and cover repairs after the initial funding period.
Board members asked about equipment and cost. Michelle said the pod would include a chair, table and mounting bracket and that the library would circulate laptops with cameras and microphones for use inside the pod; the board discussed but did not commit to adding a mounted monitor. On cost, Michelle said the specific quote for the large pod had been around $20,000 in staff conversation but the packet contained a $3,000 line item referenced for related support; she said she would supply exact purchase numbers to the board later. Board members confirmed the city attorney had reviewed the MOU.
Several trustees asked practical questions about siting and ongoing management: staff said the selected location already has power and would fit the larger pod; the library will manage reservations and maintenance. Michelle noted Jobpod’s stated goal is to ensure libraries have private space as workforce development centers shift services online.
Before the vote the director confirmed the revised MOU makes the library responsible for maintenance and repairs after installation. The board approved the revised Jobpod MOU by voice vote. No roll-call vote was recorded in the transcript.
