State program updates: Dirigo launch, business recovery funds and DEP waste‑diversion grants announced

MXG participant Jake reported several state program updates relevant to businesses and community groups.
Jake said that as of 2025 the Pine Tree Development Zone program has sunset and Dirigo has officially launched. He reminded businesses that certification is required before making capital or worker training investments to receive incentives; Dirigo’s incentives include a capital investment rebate (10% in most counties, 5% in York, Cumberland and York County is named) and a $2,000 per worker trained tax credit. Jake urged eligible businesses to apply for certification before making qualifying investments.
Jake also said the second round of the business recovery and resilience fund recently closed and that MXG members should expect staff to distribute the remaining $2,000,000 from that program. Separately, Jake flagged a Maine Department of Environmental Protection waste‑diversion grant program that offers funding ranging from $1,000 to $60,000 to support projects—regional and municipal composting and education were cited as examples.
Tom said he would post more information to the MXG chat and that participants should watch for an unveiling of Maine’s 10‑year outdoor recreation economy roadmap, expected in the coming weeks.
