Council adopts adult-use cannabis business ban, repeals illegal cultivation ban, and adopts comprehensive plan

The Green City Council adopted three separate pieces of legislation on Feb. 25 during third reading votes.

The first measure, 2025-01, is an ordinance prohibiting the establishment and operation of any business within the city licensed as an adult-use cannabis operator pursuant to the Ohio Revised Code (transcript reference). The second measure, 2025-02, repealed Section 138.06 (illegal cultivation of marijuana) of the City of Green Codified Ordinances, removing a local prohibition on home cultivation that is now allowed under Ohio law. The third measure, 2025-03, adopted the City of Green’s 2024 update to the Long Range Comprehensive Land Use Plan. Council members said the plan reflects resident input and will guide future requests for land-use regulation changes; adoption was unanimous.
