Public Safety Committee Chair Mrs. Babbitt reported the committee had examined the matter and obtained a report from Detective Cadwell. The committee learned the person taking over management at the establishment is a 10% owner and has been acting as the full manager since last August. The transcript records the committee was told there were 12 alcohol-related incidents to which the Summit County Sheriff's Department responded since that time; Detective Cadwell did not characterize that number as outside normal expectations for this type of establishment.
Mrs. Babbitt told council the new manager “was very forthcoming. He attended our meetings, spoke to us, and, seems to really have good plans for the for Town Tavern.” Following committee discussion, she moved that the council not request a hearing from the state on the stock transfer. The motion carried on roll call (Yes votes recorded from Babbitt, Noble, Spate, Neugebauer, Mager/Maker).
No further conditions or restrictions were recorded in the meeting transcript. The council’s action means no local request for a state hearing will be filed; the state will process the license transfer according to its procedures.
