Council approves two five-year agricultural permit renewals covering 17 and 21 acres

At a public hearing on Feb. 25, the Green City Council approved two five-year agricultural permit renewals: TMP 4883 for Gary and Linda Hetzen and TMP 4884 for Ronald J. Cooner.
City staff explained that agricultural permits are five-year renewals for property owners who certify that at least 10 acres are devoted to agricultural production or qualify for conservation or land-retirement payments. The Hetzen property was described as two Summit County parcels (28-10908 and 28-07354) containing 17.26 acres at 9918 Herring Road. The Cooner property was described as two parcels (28-11512 and 28-13639) totaling 21.2919 acres, on Apple Ridge Road and 5424 Arlington Road.
Planning staff said the applications include a sworn certification by the applicants that 10 acres or more are devoted to agricultural production and that the clerk performed a visual GIS check of the parcels. Council discussed that the GIS imagery used appeared current and consistent with farmland use.
Council President Noble made a motion to approve the renewals for TMP 4883 and TMP 4884; the motion was seconded and the roll call vote was recorded as unanimous in favor (Noble, Spate, Neugebauer, Babbitt, Maker). The motion carried and the permits were approved for five-year terms.
No public opposition was recorded in the transcript; staff noted that notices had been published and residents were informed of the hearing.
Staff will notify the county of the renewals as required by process.
