Accountability committee adopts reporting calendar; staff outlines KPO matrix and monitoring schedule

The Board Accountability Committee reviewed a revised key performance outcome (KPO) reporting matrix and calendar on March 25 that staff said aligns the district’s internal reports with state accountability requirements and the district strategic plan.
Miss Taylor told the committee the matrix schedules Georgia Milestones presentations as a regular board item in September and the College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI) as an April regular board presentation. She also noted charter school performance reports are scheduled as informal presentations in April and May, and an internal‑audit summary report is presented to the audit committee in June. “All regular board presentations . . . have an accompanying executive summary report that is presented along with those presentations,” Miss Taylor said.
Committee members praised the executive summaries and recommended staff continue to time reports to give board members adequate opportunity for review. The committee set tentative meeting dates to align with assessment cycles: July 22, Oct. 28, Jan. 7 and April 28 (dates provided during the meeting packet and discussion). Staff said dates may be adjusted and will be publicized in compliance with Sunshine laws.
Several members raised concerns about broader state and national developments that may affect schools. One member described “a whirlwind coming” that could change reporting or outcomes; Superintendent Dr. Hoskins Brown said district leaders are monitoring developments but noted “there is so much ambiguity” and that the district has limited guidance to act on at this time. Committee members urged the superintendent to continue transparent communication as the district learns more.
The committee’s calendar and KPO matrix were accepted for planning purposes; staff will incorporate committee feedback into the schedule and follow up with finalized dates and executive summaries.
