The Department of Public Health Advisory Board approved minutes from two prior meetings, welcomed a new public member and reviewed meeting dates at a brief virtual meeting March 13, 2024.
Board members approved minutes that included a March 13, 2024 set and a December 2020 set after motions and seconding. The board also acknowledged Matt D'Angelo as a newly appointed public member and discussed whether regularly scheduled quarterly meetings should be moved from Wednesdays to another weekday to accommodate members' schedules. Administrative staff provided the board with the next scheduled meeting dates: June 11; Sept. 10; and Nov. 12, all at 10 a.m.
The March meeting opened with Dr. Joe Treadwell, a podiatrist and board member, asking members to introduce themselves. New member Matt D'Angelo said, "Hi, everybody. I'm Matt D'Angelo. I'm a new member, and I work in the New Haven region." Vita Hardy, identified herself as a public member and retired state employee, saying, "I'm Vita Hardy, and I'm retired from the state." Board administrative staff later read the upcoming dates aloud: "June 11, September '10, November twelfth." In discussion, members noted scheduling conflicts for D'Angelo, who said he often has surgeries on Wednesdays and asked whether the quarterly meeting day could be moved.
On the March 13, 2024 minutes, Hardy said she did not recall attending that earlier meeting and elected to abstain "if I was not there." D'Angelo also said he would abstain from that specific minutes vote. With the remaining members voting, the board approved the March 13, 2024 minutes. Separately, members moved and seconded to approve the December 2020 minutes; those minutes were approved with votes in favor announced by the chair.
Administrative staff said the board currently has four members and that a quorum requires three members to attend in order to take votes. The meeting closed after a motion to adjourn was made and seconded; members voted in the affirmative and the session ended.
The board instructed staff to consider whether the regularly scheduled quarterly meeting day can be changed for future scheduling and to circulate the confirmed dates by email and on the agency website.
