Board members reported that the Department of Public Health board’s letter to the Public Health Committee had been considered and that the amendment the board requested was placed in House Bill 7157.
The chair said the board submitted testimony and that two board members — Dr. Green and Miss Jacqueline — also submitted testimony independently. The chair said the amendment appears as section 18 in House Bill 7157 and would move the fine limit back up to $25,000; she noted the board now must follow the legislative process and that outcomes depend on further committee and floor action. "We are subject to the legislative process at this point and there could be any number of things that happen," the chair said.
Members were encouraged to contact their legislators in support of the amendment. No formal board action was taken on the bill during the meeting; the item was an informational update from the chair.
