Commission adopts Ashley Gorge rules for public use, clarifies water-district easements

The Uintah County Commission voted March 25 to adopt an executive order setting rules and regulations for public use of Ashley Gorge.
Matt Kizer of Community Development presented the order, noting it reflects the version discussed at the work session and includes a wording change—Jensen Water suggested replacing the word “approved” with “permitted” in the section requiring prior county permission for installations. Kizer said the change was accepted.
Commission discussion emphasized the order applies to general public behavior on the property and does not regulate work within existing water-district easements; water districts retain the rights granted by their easements. Kizer added that the rules would apply to water-district employees if they were on the property for non-work activity.
A commissioner said the location likely will see increased visitor attention and that having standards is helpful. The motion to approve the Ashley Gorge property rules and regulations carried on a voice vote.
