Council approves budget to buy three downtown properties after failed motion to withhold funds

Staff asked the council to approve a budget amount to reflect those totals. Mister Huff made the motion; Mister Craig seconded.

The final recorded vote on that motion was 4 in favor (Mister Huff, Mister Meadows, Miss Shoemaker and Mister Craig) and 2 opposed (Miss Harris and Mister Reeves). One council member earlier had described a vote to withhold as effectively defaulting on an obligation; that comment was part of the discussion preceding the successful motion.
