The commission set a date for a parks tour and discussed how a planned prescribed burn at Victory Creek Special Park could affect the route.
Commissioners said they had picked May 17 for the park tour and planned to invite the new environmental commissioners to join. Several commissioners suggested stops including Kayla’s playground, Lions Legend to view new pickleball courts, the newly purchased land on the west side, and Victory Creek Special Park — but they agreed to use Pleasant View Park as an alternate if the prescribed burn is scheduled at the same time.
A staff member said the burn could occur in March or April and that trails and parking would be closed on the burn day; commissioners noted the burn may require wider firebreaks and trail clearing. The commission also discussed arranging a ceremonial sign placement and a photo opportunity once signage locations are finalized.
No formal action was taken other than setting the tour date; staff will coordinate the exact tour stops based on the burn schedule.
