Johnson Controls and city crews are working on HVAC wiring and short-term fixes to keep the building cool this summer; trustees were told the city plans to replace the building’s chiller in a later capital project. Staff warned that if the system loses refrigerant this summer, replacement coolant could be costly. Boiler repairs will be scheduled when heating demand is low. The board also heard that lighting fixtures will be replaced with brighter units and that new wiring is being installed for centralized building controls (Johnson Controls/OpenBlue).
Trustees asked for confirmations on schedules and costs; staff said they expect more precise dates and billing details at the next status meeting.
