The Mount Vernon Shade Tree Commission on Wednesday identified three priority planting areas for the coming season, approved ordering additional tree-care supplies and began moving its resident outreach from return mail postcards to QR-code and online sign-ups.
The commission said it will target trees for Mansfield Avenue (including the new 10-foot mixed-use path), the Dan Emmett neighborhood and the Grange/Fern area, with additional work planned in the West End and near Sandusky Street projects. Commission members reported that some purchases are already in motion, including water bags that were ordered for newly planted trees.
