Reynoldsburg council holds work session on proposed downtown ‘DORA’ to allow open-container areas for events and businesses

At the March 2025 Reynoldsburg City Council meeting, city staff and the law director opened a work session to review a draft designated outdoor refreshment area, or DORA, covering parts of Old Reynoldsburg along Main Street and adjacent park space.
The city attorney described a DORA as a limited area where patrons of qualifying establishments could carry and consume alcohoI in approved containers during set hours and said the city is preparing a formal application under Ohio Revised Code section 4301.8. “We do have 7 qualified permit holders at this time in the area,” the attorney said, adding that the proposed DORA map is well under the statutory 320 contiguous-acre limit and that the application will include a health, safety and sanitation plan.
