Maintenance responsibility for Queen Street underpass remains unclear; staff to follow up with railroad contacts

Alderman John raised questions about who is responsible for the sidewalk and crossing that were installed as part of the former street reconstruction, noting that some elements appear to be in the railroad's right-of-way. Staff said they had contacted Bill and that Carrie (Southern Tier West liaison) planned to bring the matter to the railroad committee at its next meeting.
Committee members asked staff to follow up on illumination inside the underpass, the installation of a safety railing at the top of the underpass, and repairs where stones have shifted. Bill said he had discussed illumination with the person in charge and that Carrie would bring a backup at the railroad meeting.
No formal action or budget appropriation was taken; staff will report back after the Southern Tier railroad committee meeting.
