Committee forwards rule-to-statute changes for substance-abuse treatment to the floor

Representative Marco Erickson, R-District 33, presented the bill as a straightforward transfer of substance-abuse and treatment provisions currently found in administrative rule into statute. "This is nothing new, nothing surprising to us," Erickson said, noting the bill had passed the Senate unanimously (35-0) and that the criteria referenced in the bill mirror current practice and clinical manuals such as ASAM and the DSM-5.
There were no witnesses scheduled to testify and no substantive objections in committee. The committee approved the motion by voice vote; the chair announced the bill was sent to the floor with a due-pass recommendation.
