Committee members also asked for more information about the specific waivers at issue and who in the federal delegation requested the memorial. Representative Redmond said he had worked with David Ripley and the federal delegation and offered to supply details if the RS received a full hearing.
After discussion the committee proceeded to a roll call on whether to introduce RS 32327; the motion passed on a roll call vote recorded as 10 ayes and 5 nays. The RS is now introduced and will move forward in the process for possible further committee consideration.
The memorial is an expression of legislative preference to federal agencies and does not itself change state law or appropriate funds. Committee members asked the sponsor to provide documentation of the waiver requests and any federal correspondence if the RS moves to a full hearing.
