Cameron said the proposal is a compromise developed over multiple years with stakeholders, including insurance industry representatives, and follows earlier work on House Bill 17. He described two goals: protecting homes from fire and encouraging insurers to return to the marketplace.
Representative Redmond said the RS would be introduced and routed to the Business Committee if the bill is printed. The committee approved a motion to introduce RS 32507; committee members did not take questions about fiscal estimates or specific grant mechanics during the Health and Welfare presentation and deferred detailed review to the Business Committee.
