Board approves consent agenda, dental, vision, device leases and grants; moves to closed session

The board authorized a master lease purchase agreement for student one-to-one iPads (three-year term, total cost a little over $1 million, 0% lease) and a separate master lease for staff laptops (approximately 305 devices, three-year lifecycle). Both leases carry an accidental-damage warranty; the student device lease includes coverage that allows two incidents of accidental damage per device in the warranty period. The student device motion was moved by Mr. McKenna and seconded by Ms. Lopez; the staff device motion was moved by Mr. Burns Gilbert and seconded by Doctor Burnett. Both motions passed 7-0 on roll call.
The board accepted several donations and grants, including a $2,000 donation from Walmart toward reunification supplies (supplies used during building evacuations or reunification with parents). Other named donors included Butterfest, Miller Tree Service, TDS Telecommunications, Church of Birch, Citizens First Bank, Culver's of Sparta and others; amounts for many donors were not specified in the board packet.
Finally, the board voted to move into closed session under Wis. Stat. ' 19.85(1)(c),(e),(f) to discuss staff planning related to individual personnel matters, wage negotiation strategy and compensation for administrators, classified staff and middle management. The motion to move to closed session passed 7-0 on roll call. The board announced it would return if there were any public announcement after closed session.
