"And essentially says that the person with the highest GPA and the highest ACT score will be recognized as a valedictorian. If, in fact, they both have the same ACT score, then we would recognize both of them as valedictorians," said Dr. Severe, staff member, while presenting the proposed language.
Miss Tyler, committee member, asked whether the change was required and what prompted it. Dr. Severe said the amendment is intended to provide clarity in cases where GPAs are identical after the district calculates and records grade-point averages to the available decimal places.
The motion to approve the amended 4.602 Honor Roll Awards and Class Ranking Policy passed unanimously; the meeting transcript records the vote as unanimous but does not record a roll-call tally.
