Weber County commissioners adopt ordinance renaming redevelopment agency to align with state statute

The Weber County Commission adopted final reading of Ordinance 2025-05 on March 25 to amend the name of the county redevelopment agency to align with state statute. Stephanie Russell, county staff, presented the ordinance and emphasized the action only changes the agency name and does not create a new community reinvestment area.
"This is a second reading of the, request to change the name on the on the county CRA," Russell said, adding that the agency is already established and the ordinance aligns its name with state law. Russell clarified there is a distinction between a community reinvestment agency (the county body) and a community reinvestment area (a project area the agency can create), and that the name change is intended to reduce confusion.
A commissioner moved to approve Ordinance 2025-05; the motion was seconded. In a roll call vote Commissioners Ford and Harvey and Chair Sharon Bolos each voted "aye," and the motion carried.
The ordinance makes a naming alignment with state statute; no new project areas or redevelopment project approvals were part of this action, Russell said.
