Ryan, identified in the meeting as the county’s supervisor of assessments, told the Ways and Means Committee that the board of review hearings for 2024 are complete and that the county’s abstract was approved by the Illinois Department of Revenue on Feb. 27.
“We have finished up all our hearings for 2024. We’ve sent our abstract down to the department of revenue, and that was approved February 27,” Ryan said. He added the county was among the earliest vendors to receive approval for its final abstract.
Ryan also said staff had mailed notices related to the senior freeze and that many of those individuals have been coming into the office. He said work completed by his office has been passed to the county clerk’s office and then will move to the treasurer’s office as part of the tax process.
Ryan told the committee that he plans to retire in May and that this meeting would probably be his last Ways and Means appearance; he said staff member Chad will begin appearing more at meetings after his departure. Committee members thanked him; no formal board action accompanied his announcement.
