The Peoria County Board approved an agreement with Hutchison Engineering for $107,010 to design rehabilitation of a bridge on Kick Blue Creek Road, south of U.S. 116.
County staff told the board that recent inspections show the deck beams and major reinforcement cables are failing; the rehabilitation design is intended to avoid an eventual closure or major weight restriction. The agreement covers design work and the county plans construction in 2027.
Board members asked whether one lane could be kept open during replacement; staff said the bridge will be fully closed during construction because of site constraints, including transmission power lines above the span. Staff estimated closure of a single span bridge would take about four months assuming materials are available.
County Board Member Betty moved the agreement approval; Cher seconded. The motion carried unanimously.
