The applicant for the 5.2-acre petition, identified in the hearing as Steve Beckley Allen, said he and his wife purchased the former Jeep Townes jewelry facility and converted it into a bookshop; they have entered negotiations with Golden Hub, which is seeking to relocate into that property and has therefore requested annexation and subsequent zoning.
Staff noted that the planning and zoning commission had unanimously approved the requested C-1 (Neighborhood Commercial) zoning at its prior meeting, and that utilities will need to be extended to the site once annexation is complete. Council did not act on either item during the hearing; staff said council will consider formal action on both the annexation and zoning at its second March meeting.
