The Upper Arlington Board of Zoning and Planning on Feb. 19 approved three variance applications on the consent agenda, allowing modest residential additions and an encroaching second story to proceed with specified findings.
The approved items were variance application 0625 for 2510 Abington Road to allow a one‑story addition to project up to 2 feet 8 inches into the side yard long wall setback; variance application 0925 for 2259 Canterbury Road to permit a two‑story addition encroaching up to 3 feet 8 inches into the 10‑foot minimum side/rear yard setback and reducing a side yard setback from 20 feet to 14 feet 4 inches; and variance application 0825 for 4320 Harborough to allow a second‑story addition encroaching 7 feet 2 inches into a 36 feet 3 inches rear yard setback. The board cited the findings attached to each application (findings numbers noted in the staff report) when approving the consent agenda.
No members of the public rose in opposition when the chair asked for objections. A staff member told applicants to watch for a follow‑up email with next steps for permits and thanked applicants for revisions that made some requests more palatable. The chair then called for a vote; the motion carried with verbal aye votes recorded.
