Commissioners delay vote on fiscal-accountability resolution; move item to next meeting

LAKE COUNTY — Commissioners discussed, but did not adopt, a resolution proposed by Commissioner Sabatini that would express Lake County's willingness to work with the governor's fiscal-review team.
Sabatini said being among the first counties to adopt the resolution would show leadership and help the county's standing in the current legislative session. "I would make a motion to pass it today," he said, citing benefits from quick action.
Vice Chair and other commissioners said they supported the idea but noted Chair Campione was absent and had asked the board to wait until the full five-member commission could weigh in. County staff confirmed the county had received a separate request from the governor's Executive Office seeking financial information; Clerk Gary Cooney will respond to that request by the April 8 deadline.
After discussion the board agreed to add the resolution to the next meeting agenda rather than move forward at the March 25 session. Commissioners said placing the item on the next meeting's agenda preserves an opportunity for all five members to participate in the vote.
