The West Bend City Board of Review approved a waiver of a hearing, accepted a stipulated valuation that reduced the assessed value of 1108 East Paradise Drive and certified an omitted personal-property assessment for 829 South Main Street during a session of the board.
The actions affect an appraisal-based stipulation for 1108 East Paradise Drive (Tax Parcel 11192440028), a waiver request submitted to the clerk’s office, and the certification of an omitted personal property item tied to 829 South Main Street.
Assessor’s office staff told the board they had sent three subpoena requests to objectors and that one objector withdrew after submitting material to the clerk. “Froedert…we did get quite a few documents from them, so we have a couple binders with all materials they sent, and they do comply with the subpoena,” the assessor’s office staff said. The staff also said the owner of the parcel on East Paradise Drive submitted an appraisal as requested and that the assessor’s office revised its assessment after reviewing the appraisal and other submitted data.
For 1108 East Paradise Drive, the assessor’s office reported an original investment amount of $3,565,000 and a stipulated value of $2,750,000 after the appraisal and internal analysis. The board approved a motion accepting that stipulation; the motion was made by Adam Willequette and seconded by Marian Ratuschik. The board voice-voted “Aye” and the stipulation was accepted.
The board also accepted a waiver of a board of review hearing for an objector listed in the packet (referred to in the record as “freighter”). Marion Petushik moved to approve the waiver; Amy Curler seconded the motion and the board voted in favor.
Separately, assessor staff read into the record an omitted personal property item for 2023: a building on leased land at 829 South Main Street, owned by TD Investments LLP, with an assessed value for 2023 listed as $120,900. The staff said the item had been missed on the personal property roll and that the owner is aware and accepting. The board moved to accept the omitted property for inclusion on the tax roll; the motion was made by Amy Curler and seconded by Adam Willequette and approved by voice vote.
Assessor staff also reported that Kwik Trip withdrew its objection by email after interacting with the assessor’s office and providing requested data. The board signed the necessary documents for the Paradise Drive stipulation and the waiver, the assessor’s office noted.
The board adjourned the session for the year on a motion by Justin Reichardt, seconded by Adam Willequette; the motion carried on a voice vote.
Votes at a glance: the record shows the board approved (voice votes) the waiver as moved by Marion Petushik and seconded by Amy Curler; the stipulation for 1108 East Paradise Drive (moved by Adam Willequette, seconded by Marian Ratuschik); the omitted property certification for 829 South Main Street (moved by Amy Curler, seconded by Adam Willequette); and the motion to adjourn for the year (moved by Justin Reichardt, seconded by Adam Willequette). Individual roll-call vote tallies were not specified in the transcript.
