The commission approved a site landscaping and architectural design review for Mother of Perpetual Help Parish at 2322 S. 100th St. to create a circular driveway on the northern portion of the church lawn. Planning staff presented the proposal and recommended approval subject to removal of an existing curb cut and required street-excavation and driveway-approach permits.
Jack, a planning staff member, described the proposed circle drive and said the city engineering team advised restoring the adjacent curb opening; staff will follow up with the applicant on whether a pedestrian ramp can be provided in that location. "Staff recommends it be restored to curb," Jack said, adding the recommendation was subject to future review by the city engineer. The commission moved and seconded the recommendation and voted to approve the site landscaping and architectural review.
Presenters indicated the parish intends to seek fundraising for a building addition on the west side in the future, but no building proposal was before the commission at this meeting. Street work related to the driveway will require standard permits and engineering sign-off before construction proceeds.
The commission closed the item after a unanimous vote to approve the landscaping and architectural review with the noted permit conditions.
