The Redevelopment Authority on Sept. 21 approved two items to preserve infrastructure and right-of-way for future work in the Sawdust District and along South Main Street.
First, the authority granted municipal easements for utilities located south of the Fox River and east of South Main Street that sit partly on RDA land. Staff said those easements protect an existing storm outfall and a sanitary interceptor that carries wastewater from the north side to the city plant.
Second, the authority approved a right-of-way dedication along East Ninth Avenue and the east side of South Main Street. Staff said the dedication is needed for future roadway and intersection projects and to align with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation's connecting highways program for the state-owned portion of South Main Street; the dedication will also help the Mill On Main developers plan their site work.
Both actions passed on roll call. Staff said the dedication and easement are forward-looking moves to preserve utilities and allow roadway improvements and to coordinate the private Mill On Main project with public transportation and park planning.
