Resident urges council to direct Oshkosh police not to share information with ICE

TJ argued that school resource officers and other police personnel have built trust in immigrant communities and that cooperation with ICE could damage those relationships. He urged the council to follow models used in other cities, saying, “Cities like Denver and Chicago have implemented clear policies protecting immigrant communities by limiting ICE involvement.”
The comment was presented during the meeting’s public comment period; council members did not take immediate formal action on the request during the Jan. 14 session.
