Council approves Sunnyview sign changes, intersection redesign, ARPA allocations and $50,000 for park train repairs

The Oshkosh Common Council on Jan. 28 approved four resolutions affecting land use, transportation and park operations.

The council voted to approve a development-plan amendment for the Sunnyview Expo Center at 500 County Road Y to allow additional signage and modifications to setbacks (Resolution 25-26). The item drew discussion about consistency in applying sign standards after a recent variance request at a nearby Chili’s was denied; council members and planning staff said zoning district differences and the site’s event-oriented layout justified the requested deviations. Planning staff explained the Sunnyview site ‘‘has multiple entrances’’ and needs signage to direct attendees to the correct event entrances. The resolution passed on roll call with all six voting members present recorded as aye (Flom; Bulow; Stevenson; Larson; Eslinger; Muguower).

The council also approved design direction for the intersection of Sawyer Street and Oshkosh Avenue, selecting transportation committee’s recommended Alternate 1F, with construction currently scheduled in 2028.
