Plan Commission backs comp-plan amendment to allow single-family homes at east end of Christian Drive

The Oshkosh City Plan Commission on Feb. 19 recommended approval of a comprehensive plan map amendment to change a 5.5-acre parcel at the east end of Christian Drive from general commercial to light-density residential.
City staff said the site, recently divided from a parcel at 3483 Jackson Street by a certified survey map, is currently zoned Suburban Mixed Use. The proposed land-use change would allow single-family residential development consistent with surrounding homes to the north, west and south. Staff described the amendment as a first step: rezoning, preplat and final plat actions would follow if the amendment proceeds.
Staff recommended the amendment because residential land use would align the future zoning with the future land-use map and allow construction of single-family homes on a site the city has acquired for that purpose. There was no public comment. The commission voted 6-0 to adopt the findings and recommendations in the staff report.
