The City of Wausau Plan Commission on March 18 approved the specific implementation plan (SIP) for the Bridge Street Mission’s work at 315–325 North First Street (the former Pied Piper building), clearing the project to proceed with interior remodeling and limited exterior modifications to the south wing.
Staff said the general development plan had already been approved and that much of the Mission’s prior remodeling was internal; the Phase 3 work requires limited exterior changes, primarily adding windows to the south wing to support an expanded women's residential program. The changes are minor and windows are proposed to match existing fenestration, staff said.
Commission member Borneman moved to accept the SIP; Brueggemann seconded. Members voted verbally in favor and the motion passed; staff noted this action was final and would not require a separate city council review.
Staff said Phase 4 (future) would include more extensive site-plan changes and would be brought back to the commission when ready.
