Parks committee approves pool filters, small grant, vehicles and chipper; several purchases funded within bond allocations

At its March 12 meeting the Green Bay Parks Committee approved several procurement and grant items that staff said fit within previously authorized bond and budget amounts.
The committee approved hiring Caraco Aquatic Resources to replace pool filters at Joannes Aquatic Center for $180,500. Parks staff said the existing filters were losing sand and nearing the end of their useful life; only one vendor submitted a quote. Parks Director said the quoted cost is within the budgeted amount from the 2025 bond request. Alder Rehring moved the motion and Alder DeLee seconded; the committee approved the hire by voice vote.
The committee accepted a $500 grant from Green Bay Wild Ones to replace turf on the hills at Arlin Park with native pollinator plantings. Parks staff said Green Bay Conservation Corps members would do the planting and the grant would cover materials; labor costs would be limited to existing corps staffing. Alder Galle moved the motion and Alder Presley seconded; the committee approved the grant.
Fleet and equipment purchases approved by the committee (staff said all are within previously bonded amounts) included:
- A Super Duty F-250 regular cab 4WD truck from Ewald Automotive Group for $55,003.74 to replace a 2006 F-250 (motion by Alder Wery, second Alder DeLee).
- Two 2025 GMC Sierra 1500 regular cab 4WD trucks from Ewald Automotive Group for $73,810 to replace a 2007 GMC and a 2011 Ford F-150 (motion by Alder DeLee, second Alder Presley).
- A 2025 Vermeer brush chipper for $103,208.90 to replace a 2015 chipper with 4,500 hours (motion by Alder DeLee, second Alder Presley).
Committee members confirmed that the purchases fit within the bond amounts the city previously authorized. All motions were approved by voice vote.
Staff also presented the director's informational report about preparations for draft events; the committee received and placed the report on file by voice vote.
