A Galena hotel operator and an associate asked the council to place a proposed ordinance on the April 14 agenda to allow installation of digital storage lockers near Main Street.
The speaker said the lockers would provide a short-term storage option for visitors and residents who do not want to carry shopping bags back to their lodging or to leave purchases unattended. The applicants told the council they do not believe existing vending-machine rules cover the device and therefore requested consideration of a new ordinance. They provided handouts and requested that staff schedule the item for the April 14 council meeting so they can present details to the council and public.
Council members and staff did not decide the item at the meeting; the request was recorded and the applicants were told how to pursue placement on the agenda. No formal direction or policy change was made during the public-comment period.
