Finance Committee approves three‑year contract with West Bend Police Protective Association

The Finance Committee voted Jan. 6 to approve a three‑year collective bargaining agreement between the City of West Bend and the West Bend Police Protective Association.

A committee member summarized the agreement as reached late in 2024 and said it is largely in line with other major public‑safety unions in the community. The presenter said the contract provides wage increases over each of the three years and includes revised language regarding shift changes by seniority and several technical cleanups requested by the chief. "By and large I'm very very pleased with where we netted out on this contract. It is a 3 year contract, similar to the other the fire or excuse me, firefighters as well as the police supervisors," the presenter said.

The committee was told the agreement includes a small correction at the front end to ensure salaries for represented members remain at or slightly above the median of comparable jurisdictions. A motion to approve the agreement was moved and seconded; after no questions the committee approved the contract by voice vote.

Why it matters: The agreement sets wages and working condition language for the city's police officers for a three‑year period and aligns police pay and terms with other public‑safety bargaining units in West Bend.
