Farmers market, Music on Main and two block parties planned downtown; maps, permits and road closures discussed

West Bend’s downtown events calendar will return to a fuller schedule this summer, organizers told the BID board, with the West Bend Farmers Market back on Main Street starting May 18, Music on Main on most Thursdays from May 30 through Sept. 5, and two large block-party events that will bookend the concert season.
Noelle (events coordinator) said the early market will open May 18 and run every Saturday through Oct. 26. Because of recent street work and roundabout changes, the market footprint has been extended south to Hickory Street to avoid traffic backups; organizers said most seasonal vendors will be returned to their previous spots and that signage and a QR-coded map will direct customers to vendor locations.
Organizers also plan temporary accessible parking on Sixth Avenue and will monitor its use with the police department. Noelle said vendor information and maps will be posted at westbendfarmersmarket.com and downtownwestbend.com.
Music on Main will run most Thursdays from May 30 to Sept. 5; organizers said they booked bands for the 19th year of the series and will hold larger “block party” events on May 30 and Sept. 5. Bill and Ben (organizers partnering with The Bend) outlined logistics for the block parties: a truck-deployed SL-100 stage will be set up on the southernmost block (outside Shooting Star Travel and the Candyman); multiple food vendors, two beer tents operating under a Class B license, and amplified sound and lighting will be used. Load-in and stage setup will begin in the morning of event days, with the first band typically starting around 5:30 p.m.
Organizers emphasized permit and safety details: businesses with patio or extension-of-premise permits may serve alcohol within their approved extended areas; beer sold in street beer tents must remain within the closed-off street area. The city has been consulted about road closures and electrical support for the stage.
Organizers said they will notify businesses directly about road-closure timing and staging details; maps and final logistics will be emailed to downtown businesses and posted online.
